West Karnataka Coastal Pilgrimage

A journey through the coastal Jain belt featuring several Bahubali monoliths. The pilgrimage starts from Mangalore and ends at Humcha (near Arasalu station).

Day 1

1. Shri Digambar Jain Temple, Mangaluru

Ancient temple located near Mangalore Central station.

2. Saavira Kambada Basadi, Moodbadri

Famous '1000-pillar temple' along with 17 other ancient temples (most temples are open only from 7 AM to 10 AM), get map from the jain mathada basadi. If bhojanshala is closed for some reason, you can go to Arihanth Ahaar restaurant for jain food.

3. Vennoor Bahubali

A historic monolithic statue of Bahubali Swamy, 20 kms from Moodbadri. There is another temple behind the Bahubali statue.

4. Adinath Swamy Basadi, Vennoor

Located within 1 km of the Vennoor Bahubali statue.

5. Dharmasthala Bahubali

Located 32 kms from Vennoor, has a modern monolith of Bahubali Swamy with a dedicated Jain dining hall. There is another jain temple in the town.

6. Ratnatraya Basadi Atishay Kshetra

Located 23 kms from Dharmasthala, a sacred site offering night stay facilities.

Day 2

1. Karkala Bahubali

Located 45 kms from Ratnatraya Basadi, it houses an ancient monolith of Bahubali Swamy. Out of 23 temples in the town, 12 temples are ancient - Chaturmukha Basadi and Annekere Basadi (lake temple) being some of them. The Kshetra is about 1000 year old and famous for sculptures.

3. Varanga Lake Jain Temple

A beautiful temple situated in the middle of a lake, 27 kms from Karkala. A serene 12th-century, four-faced (Chaturmukha) temple located in the middle of a 14-acre lake in Varanga village, Udupi district, Karnataka. Dedicated to Parshwanatha, this 850-year-old temple is accessed by a 100-meter boat ride, featuring intricate, star-shaped architecture surrounded by water lilies and lush nature.

4. Kundadri Shri Parshwanath Basadi

Just 44 kms from Varanga, this place is known for being the tapasthali of Acharya Shri Kund Kund Swamy.

5. Jwalamalini Atishay Kshetra, N R Pura

Prominent temple dedicated to Yakshini Jwalamalini and Shri Chandraprabha Swamy, located 58 kms from Kundadri.
